Electronics maker ASUS topped the Best Taiwan Global Brands rankings for the fourth consecutive year with an estimated brand value of US$1.75 billion, according to a recent survey released by Taiwan's Industrial Development Bureau (IDB).
Network security solutions provider Trend Micro remained second on the list with a value of US$1.36 billion, and food and media conglomerate Want Want was unchanged at third place with US$1.03 billion.
Banking industry heavyweight CTBC Financial Holding, which made the list for the first time with a value of US$506 million, came in fourth, trailed by bicycle maker GIANT at US$476 million.
The top 20 list also includes computer solutions provider Advantech, PC maker ACER, bicycle maker MERIDA, fabless semiconductor firm MediaTek and smartphone producer HTC, in that order.
According to the IDB, the combined value of the top 20 Taiwan brands stands at US$9.24 billion this year, up 3.21 percent from 2015.
The high-tech and health-related industries delivered noteworthy results with year-on-year growth of 6.25 percent and 4.08 percent, respectively, while 5 companies registered double-digit gains.
